Caution: Birthday Under Construction

Baby’s first time sitting in a shopping cart

First time at the checkout register, Eleanor is dubious of the man touching all of our food and hiding it in brown bags

Nap time is the best time

Generations 1, 3 and 4

Desmond felt it was best to gather all the balloons together in the middle of the room, as you do

Balloons = magic

Some truly remarkable women and mothers in this group

Inspecting the found ladybug

These cousins remain in motion

CAKE! It took a few tries and some coaching, but he blew the candle out

The look of pure bliss

Little heart, so full

Liam reading Des’ card

Snoopy and Woodstock play music and light up?!

Big brother sharing his card, Ella was equally impressed

Desmond quickly settling in story-listening position as Uncle Mike read one of his new books

Eleanor hopped in and contemplated the book’s plot and sub-themes

Eleanor showing off her most recent nighttime party trick: waking up and sitting, without making much more than a peep, then falling asleep again.

Frogs!

Liam, Viv and ma deliver a very special gift- Desmond’s first pet(s), frogs!

More specifically, two African Dwarf frogs

With minimal latency, Desmond proclaimed their names were “Stick” and “T-Rex.” Growth milestone: Des connects favorite things with favorite things, unprompted by explanation how one goes about naming pets.

Yeah, he’s pretty excited

Eleanor equally enthused, though likely more with sticking leaves in her mouth

Discovering what the tiny fork is for at Amsterdam

Unsurprisingly, frog paraphernalia surged in popularity

Princess Pinkeye and dad get out of the house for a bagel

Ella falls asleep on the way home, so dad picnics at Memorial Park with breakfast and coffee in hand

Meanwhile ma graciously watched Desmond, having a sleepover with Liam and Viv

“Nope, I did not have any treats at ma and pa’s”

Scaling the stairs is Eleanor’s new favorite activity

After dad pressed the Nemo button, Des builds a cozy pillow fort

Raise your hands if you’re excited Mom’s coming home!

Hanging out at the airport with a pouch, Des got to watch mom’s actual plane land (zoom in)

These two really drew in the adoring sighs of passersby.

MOM!

Out for a bite and pint, mom and dad  realize it’s actually physically demanding to assist your toddler with playing the large-scale Connect Four games.

The annual start to Dundee Day with pancakes (and pouch)

Since the last parade, Des is freshly aware of the potential for nabbing candy at these shindigs. Which made it that more dramatic that the first few groups did not have candy to offer.

Oh yeah, now we’re talking!

High-fives for tigers (Des may one day be a Dundee Wildcat)

Liam and Viv offering cousin Ella the softer blocks to stack

Hanging out with Mark and Penny

Cousins aligned for dinner

Wishing pa a happy 60th birthday

At the realization there was homemade ice cream too:

Ok, a bit more classic mario as well

July 28th, 2017

Liam and Viv came over for the evening. Goofiness ensued.

Liam was excited to play the first Mario game, once dad figured out the connections

They each played until “game over” and then switched. Des was on permanent player 2 duty, happily mashing buttons on the unused controller

View from mom’s morning crunches

Breakfast with the family and the dinosaurs at Dixie Quicks for mom’s birthday

Checking out aunt Megan’s new truck with Liam and Viv

Pretty much everything still goes straight into the mouth

Des really likes his Cars book. Sister does too, but for a different reason.

Everything tastes better via chopsticks

Des (surprisingly) getting into the splashing mood after dinner

Proud of his stacking skills (and let’s face it, dad was too)
