A rare breakfast out, the wait at Culprit was worth it for the egg sandwich and coffee. These two did fairly well sharing their cereal appetizer

Mom makes some good oatmeal, but this was right up there as well. A bit more berries and syrup than at home, Des was all about it

A morning downtown is nice, even in February

As lead thrill-seeker in the family, it was time to introduce Eleanor to the slides in the Gene Leahy Mall

There may have been a bit more scooting and running involved without any of the accelerant materials typically found laying around in warmer weather

Yup, she’s a fan

Warm enough to be outside, but the water is still frozen most of the way through

As an ardent walker nowadays, Eleanor got a quick advanced tutorial on walking on ice. She’s certainly persistent.

The main event was seeing the light. installation at Kaneko.

Eleanor was stoked to play with what was essentially a large-scale Light Bright

All curled up on mom for movie night, a rewatching of Despicable Me

Des’ gift to mom was the first season of Fraggle Rock to watch together. He was mesmerized by just the few first minutes and danced to the theme song!

Dog Park

When you ask Des a question, his new new thing is shaking his head in the affirmative or saying “yeah.” But when we asked him if he wanted to go to the dog park to see a lot of doggies, he didn’t know what he was in for. The sheer look of elation settled over him as we walked up to the fence with dozens of dogs just beyond.

Even with so many new dogs to meet, these two friends stuck close by as well

It was such a warm autumn day, we had to start the day outside. What better destination than the old market? Chance also had it that dad’s friend Rachel was in town for her own baby shower.

Des and mom had their own sushi date while dad and Rachel caught up. “What do you mean these aren’t drumsticks?” (nice form though, son)

Des exploring the new kids boutique shop. Mom and dad will definitely be back, lots a great toy ideas for young minds.

With daylight savings time, everyone got to enjoy a gorgeous midwestern sunset on the back deck.

Ok, dad may have added a submarine from the shop today to accompany the tugboat ma got Des.

“All right, this isn’t so bad. I like the flower smell! Which is okay, because I’ve got my boat.”
