New members to-be, waving goodbye to sweet sanity…
After a hotel room picnic breakfast, it was time for swimsuits and the most invigorating morning swim ever. Mostly docking in the jacuzzi, there were a few adrenaline junkie excursions to the main and kiddie pools
Future deep marine explorer Eleanor doesn’t seem to mind
Out for the annul classic car show. On the hunt for Mustangs and before the defeating search for any non-deep-fried-dessert vegetarian food option.
Mom’s resourceful idea to source a few slices of Casey’s cheese pizza provided the foundation of the late lunch picnic
Desmond further testing heights, summits the playground dome eerily reminiscent of dad’s (and aunt Kellie’s) elementary school
Today, Eleanor appears to be pro-swing (it varies)
On the drive home, naps are had by all (but dad)
Cause what could be the proper end scene of a 20-hour road trip? A visit to Surfside for Aunt Megan’s birthday was (unexpectedly easy and) enjoyable
When your order for corn fritters is still waiting, you apparently practice tossing rocks towards the river
Des quickly finds the bounce house (cause that’s apparently permanent?)
Eleanor and Ol’ Monkey Butt
Des catching a peek at the evening’s special birthday treat
Waiting the requisite six full minutes before engaging in gravity-jarring, nausea-inducing fun of bouncing uncontrollably…
After dad picks up the kids from ma & pa’s while mom’s in KC, it’s time for a picnic with the geese.
Sandwich and chips- and a pouch for good measure
Eleanor gets fairly insistent that the goose consumes her treat for them, right before dad intervenes…
Looking closely towards the middle of the frame- Eleanor’s bit of sandwich flies towards the unsuspecting geese
The lunch adventure ends in a standoff
Right before everyone completely loses it, each yearning for a nap
Sign models
Side trip to drop off some salsa to uncle Mike, Calvin guides Des through tic-tac-toe gameplay
What seems like not a first, Ella prefers to eat her nachos top-to-bottom
A gorgeous late-summer day for a picnic in park. Des and Ella race a fuzzy catepillar
Wide open spaces for running
Just chilling, you know
Des goes for a bike ride as Eleanor follows in her fairy costume
At the community garden for some bee watching
Des gets a special treat (bomb pop) for riding all the way around the block on his bike
Ella earned a “finished all your bites” treat as well
A spontaneous trip to Memorial Park for a post-school/work kite excursion
Eleanor spent more time descending/ascending stairs than the kite could be kept in the air. Apparently dad significantly misread the wind opportunity on school’s flags, perhaps there was not a sustained wind present
Ok, one last gust as we walk back to the car
Actually it turned out an enjoyable little outing
Eleanor demonstrating how food gets in the tummy by shoving a beet under her dress
Redness is not an injury, but rather the beet injection point
Desmond expressing the near-universal excitement of avocado toast for breakfast
Checking out the bumblebees
At park near the farmers market
These two goofs
Some sort of construction truck rodeo, with lots of rules
A girl and her slide
An unfortunately timed photo, in reality Eleanor was happily sliding down while Des was merely scooting up to the edge and waiting his turn
Met up with mom’s friend and her daughter, Morgan
It was already getting hot out, so while mom had some friend time, the rest of the family hung in the shade
Patio lunch for three
Ella zonks right out
Everyone happily dining on mussels
…and one stowaway onion
At a friends birthday party (followed shortly by Calvin’s birthday party coincidentally in the same park), Eleanor tries on the on-theme unicorn costume for two seconds
No unicorn horn and running free, that’s better
Des ducking the goose
Eleanor decides to jump in and just start running around in circles
The result of some adult yelling, “CUPCAKES!”
The look of young jealousy-
Upon being reminded he too was getting a cupcake momentarily
That’s the stuff (gone)
Unicorns are pro-juice
Not a single “bonk” occurred, surprisingly
A quick walk around the lake before the birthday festivities started again
Eleanor, doing some light lifestyle modeling
Back together for Calvin’s birthday dinner, the group somehow scored a 12-top at Block 16 on a Saturday night
Eleanor looking at “horsey” pictures from Grandma’s outing to the equestrian show
