Des was really excited about dad’s new guitar/banjo/mandola strings. Or he’s just excited if something arrives in a box and he gets to open it, regardless of contents.

Des’ first official play date, with Audrey who recently moved to a different classroom at daycare
On any given day, in-between all the various activities, there’s just a blur of motion-
As Nora is fond of saying, “My future is so bright, I have to wear sunglasses”
At the Waiting Room Lounge for the Omaha Girls Rock showcase. A music venue mom and dad have seen countless shows at and dad has even played at, a bit surreal for a family outing. As soon as the first band went on, Des was wearing his ear muffs without complaint or fuss.

Time for a quick drum solo before heading to ma & pa’s
Santa Claus is coming to town
Des and the cousins visit pa’s union hall (IBEW Local 22) to meet Santa Claus, just like mom did when she was a little girl.
Oh yeah, Des is walking now! Just a few steps occasionally, but he’s officially mobile.
We’re all pretty excited about it.
Des itemizes his wishlist for Santa
Des also got a froggy from Santa. He’s paid much attention to stuffed animals before, but he’s enthralled with this one
Playing with grandma after waking up from his afternoon nap
Des here is in no pain or discomfort. He has demonstrated repeatedly that he can get out whenever he wants. No, here he is royally ticked off he can’t crawl fully under the couch. The little man is strong-willed.
No Desmonds were hurt during the making of this video:
And much like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park, Des has figured out the door. Pretty tall for not even 14 months.

Winter with a toddler in the Midwest apparently means finding new indoor weekend activities. We had only been to Omaha Children’s Museum with Liam and Viv before, so thought it’d be a nice to take Des. It was fun, but quickly realized a lot of the activities were for slightly older kids.
Des wanting to turn everything into a walker, a lawn mower was an ideal choice.
Clinging to mom, still not up a fan of carousels.
Having fun sliding down Gordy, the elephant from Richman Gordman’s Zooland. One of dad’s first memories in Council Bluffs was sliding down this at the store on north 16th St.
Balls galore to throw and chase after.
Tossing the green ball into the hover machine.
Perhaps a bit of parental projection.
Jamming on the light piano.
After exploring, we decided to head back to the “wee ones” section and Des fit a bit more at home.
Always great to see our KC friends, hanging out with Jackson and Morgan.
Watching Jackson jam on dad’s electric guitar from high school.
Dan reading 100 First Words to Morgan and Des before bedtime.
