A girl and her balloon

Baby’s first visit to 11-Worth Cafe to celebrate aunt Megan’s birthday. Eleanor seen here modeling the new hat ma made her.

Eggs- now you see them, now you don’t

First helium-filled balloon experience

Love at first site

Balloon just as entertaining after nap, naturally

“Pose like this?”

“Wait, where’d it go?!”

“So relieved to have my new friend back”

Ella has a love/hate relationship with the velcro ball game

Other than yogurt bites, no other food solicits her R2-D2 dance like tomatoes. And if you still have any on your plate when hers are gone, she’ll yell out “JUSTICE!!” (presumably)

Des has invented the cookie sandwich. Immediately preceding it was the spaghetti squash sandwich.

August 4th, 2017

Eleanor heard mom open the door to Des’ room and she immediately crawled in and pulled herself up on Des’ bed railing to say good morning.

Picture from Ms. Kristin- “Ella woke up and rolled over and got patted back to sleep!!!!!” Only lasted a few minutes, but a win nonetheless.

The ecstasy of yogurt bites

New trick…

…sleeping bum up! For over two hours before her first wake up.

With mild weekend temperatures, it was a (surprisingly) perfect July morning for a more in-depth exploration of the new adventure trails area at the zoo. Des surveying the lay of the land

He needed a bit of encouragement, but Des quickly acclimated to climbing the rope tunnels high over the park. They even made it strong enough for parents too (there was one other dad traversing)

Peek-a… Ella!

Des had no reservations this time getting arm deep in the pool to pet the stingrays. They were hungry and seeking attention.

Eleanor had to get in on the splashing

Desmond communing with the peafowl

Eleanor’s first train ride

It took a moment at gorillas to see what all the commotion was about, but clearly everyone was excited to see this little guy. Kgosi was born this past winter.

Ella trying to pet the penguins 🙂

These two just stared at each other for a while

At this point Des usually sprints through the tunnel to go see the jellyfish

After nap, it’s time to class up the neighborhood with “running through the sprinklers in our underwear” time

Sure, why not

Dry baby

Des sucking down his first root beer float

Des runs off his spare energy around the block with mom and max

Meanwhile it’s Ella and daddy splash time

Morning visit to the Children’s Museum to wear out Des before he would up late for the fireworks. Mom seen here displaying her best disco moves.

Intrinsic tetris skills, having never been shown what to do with the blocks

One of the coolest installations was the Sketch Town piece, where Des scanned his coloring of a crane truck (of course).

His drawing then came to life on screen as a 3D truck driving around!

Pretending his an “ausnaut,” looks like he’s wearing a LEGO helmet

Up close with the dinosaurs

He’s driven a fair number of jeeps in his day

Probably dad’s last ride until Ella needs a train buddy

Dad demonstrating how a creeper works, it may not have been designed for adults.

Having never actually used on in the wild, the museum’s has certainly provided him sufficient training

Got milk? (editorial note: sorry.)

First opt-in on the smock, which consequently did almost no good

Our girl laughing

Another “generation” on the whimsical hammer

A first, “I like oysters!”

Home Run Derby at the TD Ameritrade Ballpark

Eleanor’s “I’m excited to be at a baseball game in this heat” face

Desmond excited to show everyone his newly-discovered affinity for stadium peanuts

Des’ first Dippin’ Dots

The cousins getting ready for fireworks

If you think she looks excited just by seeing dad’s camera screen, you should have seen her fascination when the fireworks began

All ready.

A boy up wayyyyy past his bedtime

Father’s Day 2017 (observed)

The last day before mom and dad’s trip, up bright and early

One! One happy napper… ah ah ah

Two! Two happy nappers… ah ah ah

Father’s Day breakfast, Ella decides she likes mascarpone

Des singing, what turns out, happy birthday to aunt Kellie

“Desmond Shreffler, space cadet!” Des got his first action figure as a special gift before going to ma and pa’s house for the week while mom and dad were in Colorado.
