Eleanor on the long path to learning to practice “nice touches”

Unwavering in her ascent to the top of the slide, this girl pushed and climbed…

…and slid unrelentingly for more than half an hour.

With mild weekend temperatures, it was a (surprisingly) perfect July morning for a more in-depth exploration of the new adventure trails area at the zoo. Des surveying the lay of the land

He needed a bit of encouragement, but Des quickly acclimated to climbing the rope tunnels high over the park. They even made it strong enough for parents too (there was one other dad traversing)

Peek-a… Ella!

Des had no reservations this time getting arm deep in the pool to pet the stingrays. They were hungry and seeking attention.

Eleanor had to get in on the splashing

Eleanor’s first train ride

It took a moment at gorillas to see what all the commotion was about, but clearly everyone was excited to see this little guy. Kgosi was born this past winter.

Ella trying to pet the penguins 🙂

These two just stared at each other for a while

At this point Des usually sprints through the tunnel to go see the jellyfish

After nap, it’s time to class up the neighborhood with “running through the sprinklers in our underwear” time

Sure, why not

Eleanor catnapping peacefully as Dad picks up from daycare

Easter egg dying techniques: kool-aid tip from ma, whisk handle from the interwebs. Who knew a dozen years later, those Wakarusa Festival cups would be egg-dying vessels?

Des scoping out the next color…

After all the eggs are dyed, and keeping with this week’s scientific method curriculum, Des running experiments on combining colors. Or just playing with colored water, who knows

Des’ friend Max came over to hang out Saturday in what can only be described as a “mutual toy discovery” session

Words unexpected in a toddler’s vernacular in 2017: chia pet. Dad won a blueberry eating contest at work two years ago and finally brought the botanical adventure home as part of the office move. Such a goopy experience, a second growth is unlikely at this point.

Sunday was a slow day with Des not feeling well. Time for his hooded sweatshirt and some chill-out time with Max

Even with the cold rain and the day’s down tempo, Ella’s smiling
