Up early for one of our favorite traditions, pretzels in the making

Who doesn’t love to smash a good egg yoke?

Sugar bae

“Hi mom!”

Des holding his prize possession in the cart seat, as you do

Pa enticing Eleanor to play her favorite game- adult hopping! Doesn’t look like great-uncle Pat is having it

Happy, mere moments before pulling on that towel in the background and nearly braining herself with the pull-down cabinet door. A few tears, but barely a mark. 1960’s safety technology at work.

Des staring down a bowl of ma’s transcendent cream of artichoke soup

Pictured: a rare glimpse of what has come to be known as the “Shriek of Justice!” (an homage to The Princess Bride): a high-pitched warning horn Ella sounds at the faint smell of unfairness. This will all get easier when she acquires language skills, right?

Desmond in his fancy argyle sweater, playing with great-grandma Jan’s toys that have stood the test of time

Cousin hugs/patience

Mom just kinda put it on her finger and walked away. It took a few minutes…

Eleanor witnessing the gift exchange shenanigans first-hand

O Tannenbaum…

Eleanor more than happy to rip into the wrapping paper, with the help of Buddy and Callie

Ella is ready to mash buttons, though this one won’t dial 9-1-1

Pa helping Desmond figure out his fancy new water bottle

The Christmas ornament from ma just happened to have Darth Vader’s voice at the press of a button- his new favorite, clearly

“Talking” on her new phone is fun, but just not enough to let go of that empty lens filter box

Cousins and ma figuring out the new game. It’s like a horizontal, spring-loaded jenga?

Celebrating aunt Megan’s BSN graduation

Yum corn!

Cousin hugs

An annual tradition, visiting Santa at pa’s union hall.

Finally a Christmas tree Eleanor is allowed to touch

Touch all the things!

Practicing her walking more so than her brother, she’ll routinely take several steps. Des just decided not to walk for some time after he initially learned.

Des was eager to see Santa, but got a tad shy when the moment came. He powered through enough though to reiterate his wish for “a barn” 🙂

Ella didn’t know what to make of the situation

Watching Frosty the Snowman

Yay tree

A rare occasion of reading something with mom other than Star Wars

Thanksgiving 2017

Watching the Macy’s parade, though Eleanor is just happy to be holding the remote

…see?

Eleanor continues her acrobatic feeding, this time, with accessories

Both kids stopped every one in a while to watch part of the parade, but it was mostly just play as usual

One of the greatest laughs <3

Everything is a chew toy, if you want it to be

Thanksgiving at ma and pa’s, and grandma too

Liam and Des kept busy

Eleanor trying pumpkin pie for the first time

Seemingly mixed review, though she had several more bites

Exhausted after not having a nap, though it’s only 5:30p :/

Movie picnic, watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Caution: Birthday Under Construction

Baby’s first time sitting in a shopping cart

First time at the checkout register, Eleanor is dubious of the man touching all of our food and hiding it in brown bags

Nap time is the best time

Generations 1, 3 and 4

Desmond felt it was best to gather all the balloons together in the middle of the room, as you do

Balloons = magic

Some truly remarkable women and mothers in this group

Inspecting the found ladybug

These cousins remain in motion

CAKE! It took a few tries and some coaching, but he blew the candle out

The look of pure bliss

Little heart, so full

Liam reading Des’ card

Snoopy and Woodstock play music and light up?!

Big brother sharing his card, Ella was equally impressed

Desmond quickly settling in story-listening position as Uncle Mike read one of his new books

Eleanor hopped in and contemplated the book’s plot and sub-themes

Eleanor showing off her most recent nighttime party trick: waking up and sitting, without making much more than a peep, then falling asleep again.

September 4th, 2017

Taking the dog for a walk, in our pajamas

Wildfires in the pacific northwest and Canada cast an eerie, yellow glow late morning through the afternoon

Getting ready to throw candy at the Labor Day parade and pa’s electrical union

A momentous afternoon and first archery encounter

Shooting his cousin’s birthday bow, hit dad’s makeshift bark target jammed in the tree

Post-nap giggles with ma

Des conned great-grandma Jan into sitting on her lap and eating lunch

A girl, her pa, and her brother’s hat

The annual start to Dundee Day with pancakes (and pouch)

Since the last parade, Des is freshly aware of the potential for nabbing candy at these shindigs. Which made it that more dramatic that the first few groups did not have candy to offer.

Oh yeah, now we’re talking!

High-fives for tigers (Des may one day be a Dundee Wildcat)

Liam and Viv offering cousin Ella the softer blocks to stack

Hanging out with Mark and Penny

Cousins aligned for dinner

Wishing pa a happy 60th birthday

At the realization there was homemade ice cream too:
