His mother’s child, Des picking out all the carbs at the grocery store

Driving the tractor with Clara

Des and Ella visiting dad at lunch before lunch. Desmond is beginning to think that dad works with cranes trucks.

“Sure son, you can polish off the rest of the lime juice”

Desmond finding new ways to get stuck under furniture. At least it was less crying this time.

Cousin love

Ella exploring new heights and toys

After brunch, the cousins popped out on the deck to see the chicken’s they could clearly hear while eating

A bit later inside, the front door was heard closing while Liam and Viv were in plain site. About 30 seconds later, it registered with dad’s classroom management spidey-sense that “door + cousins visible = des somewhere unknown.” Scurrying out the front door and jogging right to the backyard, a gate was seen standing open. Des had made a run for it. Pushing further into the backyard, everyone finds that Desmond (on the lamb) had also jailbroken the chickens from their pen. Shown here is Desmond and his accomplices looking up at the onlookers on the deck above- all looking down in astonishment in what he had accomplished in under two minutes.

Desmond, ever the big helper, assisting Liam with corralling the chickens back in the coop

All smiles

After nap time and the storm clouds pass, it’s time for a picnic with the Sobczyk’s at Stinson Park. Des and Ernie steer the playground

Abruptly warm, the kids were eager to run free

…and seek out puddles to jump in.

Dotty, Ernie and Des looking down at the alligators resting below (?)

Massive bubbles to chase and pop

…we all fall down

Lots of open space to just run

Des’ friend Max came over to hang out Saturday in what can only be described as a “mutual toy discovery” session

Words unexpected in a toddler’s vernacular in 2017: chia pet. Dad won a blueberry eating contest at work two years ago and finally brought the botanical adventure home as part of the office move. Such a goopy experience, a second growth is unlikely at this point.

Rise and shine for the LEGO artists expo at the botanical center. In addition to the prior lego exhibit, there were a lot of interesting builds from the Lincoln/Omaha Lego group. Featured here is a train racing past Ray’s Music Exchange (don’t tell mom)

What kid wouldn’t dive into a pile of legos? Des occasionally looked over at his older cousin for both validation and cues on what to do next 🙂

These two goofballs taking a break for a photo before lunch arrived

Sure Mr. Waiter, you can (try to) take our picture

Later in the afternoon at grandpa’s house, Des was focused primarily on his water can and how much he could get away with near the “pond”

Drooling cutie

Daycare’s annual Valentine’s Day ballon gift from the community arrived early this year. Next year, baby sister probably won’t surrender her balloon as easily.

Desmond’s first experience with “big boy” toothpaste. Guessing that rinsing will take a bit of practice…

New Years Eve 2016

With countless toddlers with noisemakers, we once again rang in the “noon year” at the Durham.

Des not impressed with the band

Waiting for those balloons

So many balloons to catch/stomp

And confetti!
