Valentines Day party is another opportunity to hang out with Des in the afternoon, enjoy snacks and paint using our feet. “Son, you know that part of you that doesn’t like sticky stuff on your fingers and likes to put toys away? That comes from me. And here I am painting your feet.”

Des got to take a party balloon home, so it of course was in hand for the better part of the evening

Holiday party

Apparently even daycare has holiday parties. Really it was just normal afternoon snacks and ornament crafts, only with parents. It’s a nice time though to see Des in his daily environment and interacting with classmates.

You don’t have to tell him twice to jump into the paints.

In retrospect, we are super impressed with just how clean he comes everyday.

Let the wild rumpus start!

Each Halloween at Des’ daycare, after each room has their own party, the kids load up for a buggy ride tour of the building. The parade makes trick-or-treat stops throughout each department in the building (the daycare is just one portion of the organization’s overall community mission and facility). It was really quite cute and all the employees just loved seeing the kids dressed up.

It was also contemplative for mom and dad- this was the first “kids event” participating as observers while the kids, both collectively and Des, were the focal point. A new parental experience.

All ready for the buggy ride parade. Front-left is Audrey, the closest to Des’ age in his multi-age room and routinely Des’ friend we read about buddy activities on the daily sheet.

Thursday afternoon was open house at Des’ daycare. It was nice to see him in his element and for snack time.

Apparently Des’ favorite spot is up in the kitchen. Lots to play with and sort.

Hey mom, what are you doing out there? Want a spoon?

IMG_7490b

It was time to go out in the big room and Des goes right for the stairs. Fearless.

IMG_7468b

Or maybe not- got all the way to the top stair and just stayed there for ten minutes 🙂

The tides might be slowing turning as Des appeared to enjoy the slide this time more than not.

On his first day the played outside, visited the garden and got to know the other kids. Wednesday is water play outside.
