Morning visit to the Children’s Museum to wear out Des before he would up late for the fireworks. Mom seen here displaying her best disco moves.

Intrinsic tetris skills, having never been shown what to do with the blocks

One of the coolest installations was the Sketch Town piece, where Des scanned his coloring of a crane truck (of course).

His drawing then came to life on screen as a 3D truck driving around!

Pretending his an “ausnaut,” looks like he’s wearing a LEGO helmet

Up close with the dinosaurs

He’s driven a fair number of jeeps in his day

Probably dad’s last ride until Ella needs a train buddy

Dad demonstrating how a creeper works, it may not have been designed for adults.

Having never actually used on in the wild, the museum’s has certainly provided him sufficient training

Got milk? (editorial note: sorry.)

First opt-in on the smock, which consequently did almost no good

Another “generation” on the whimsical hammer

A first, “I like oysters!”

Desmond excited to show everyone his newly-discovered affinity for stadium peanuts

Des’ first Dippin’ Dots

The cousins getting ready for fireworks

If you think she looks excited just by seeing dad’s camera screen, you should have seen her fascination when the fireworks began

All ready.

A boy up wayyyyy past his bedtime

Double trouble in the morning, before a long day of adventures

Eleanor hyped for the children’s museum with friends

Desmond trying to cut the pizza with some sort of wheel. He knows that’s why they invented scissors, right?

Showing off his tong skills

11:15am, time for a union break

Sitting in a real-life ambulance, circa 1974

Sometimes her excitement fades to deep snoring

Big brother checking sister’s heartbeat (via the back of her head)

Good dental hygiene is important

After naps, it was the perfect February (?) afternoon to head downtown. Des threw gravel into the lake, though no geese were injured during the making of this photo

With several events in the area, Trini’s was about the shortest wait

If you have to wait somewhere, this is certainly one of dad’s favorite spots

Sitting on the street after dinner, eating macaroons… just like the beat generation

After visiting several times without riding, it was time for a few laps in the choo-choo train

At first he sort of surrendered to the molasses-like ball pit, but eventually mustered enough energy to make his way over to the slide/exit

When it rains all day, it’s time for a trip to the Children’s Museum. Des jumped right into the toddler ball pit-

On a quick stop to let ma & pa’s dog out, Des not only demonstrates how to turn the TV on, but proceeds to watch the quintessential scary scene in Jurassic Park, happily pointing at “dino!” A few minutes is all that was necessary before dad counter-demonstrated how to turn the TV off 😉

Des woke up with a tremendous amount of energy, so it was a good morning to visit the children’s museum. Here he is coming out of his (hermit) shell

With aunt Kellie, uncle Mike, and cousin Calvin visiting, it was a great Saturday morning for a trip to the Children’s Museum. Des was mostly overwhelmed during the last visit, but now with his new walking skills, it was an entirely new game.

Still a bit short for most of the pneumatic ball fun, but he was all too happy chase them all down anyway.

It was still time for an intermission mid-morning though.

Des is happy on the inside too, he’s got his pouch.
