While Mom has the girls over before the opera, everyone else goes to the pizza joint up the street for some quality mass-sporting screen time pizza.

While he’s usually out not too long after 8pm, tonight Des was awake until 9:30p. Before dad’s third trip into his room, he’s seen clutching his pooh bear. Apparently this is what toddler insomnia looks like 🙁

When Eleanor gets tired of waiting to eat as the bottle warms at daycare. It does NOT go this way with dad and the nighttime bottle.

Because good lighting.

Started the nice weekend weather at the zoo, but decided to focus on a few areas not recently visited. Adventures in the Bell 47 helicopter and safari truck.

The vintage Land Rover in the foreground is real, as are the lions in the background.

Toddler happiness: eating french fries in the jungle and watching the monkeys.

“I want to be your personal (photo op) penguin”

Eleanor’s first trip to the aquarium where she was alert and tracking all the fishies.

Traditional jellyfish and tropical fish stops, now with more children

Sister loves her birdie

It was warm enough that Des could wear his short-sleeve, rocket pajama top. Apparently since the first appearance required a photo, each subsequent wearing starts with scurrying back to his dresser and requesting, “take picture!”

With the weather near 80 today, it was the perfect afternoon for a picnic at Lake Manawa

Rocks and sticks and water? Des was onboard.

Ella was content just to hang in the shade

Yummy picnic, sans blanket dad forgot

Someone was ECSTATIC to finally wear his short-sleeve “rocket ship!” pajama top since it was finally warm enough. Note the day-old glow stick from aunt Kellie- after a day in the freezer, still going strong.

Right. The fork is the best Mousekatool to use!

Sunday morning story time. Frog blanket and moose required.

Said frog blanket in action-

Des before bonking his head and teeth no fewer than three times before he learned to rock gently

Rounding out the unseasonably warm February weekend, it was a great day for flying a kite at Memorial Park

Flying a kite is fun, but Des soon learned that flying a kite while running is the best.

Mom got some good runs in too

While sister didn’t run around, she was more than happy to cuddle in the newfound breeze

Desmond and the Kite squaring off

Brother and sister holding hands, or just Ella grabbing more hands to chew

Family reading time

Eleanor starting her long day with early morning exercises

Eleanor’s three-month photos with Kam

She was a trooper

Eleanor presumably looking at mom’s brunch with envy, wishing she was on to solid foods

Meanwhile, Des went on an adventure with grandma Anne to the botanical center. Des was clearly ecstatic for the annual LEGO exhibit

French fries, mac & cheese, grilled cheese- oh my!

Post-nap, staring at dad’s new grow light for starting seeds in the basement

Bedtime stories- vicuña violining!

Baby sister finally sleeping, it’s a miracle.

Deep in the throes of the terrible twos, moments of sweetness with this boy.
