As enthusiastically as Eleanor was repeating “Car wash? Car wash!” her energy dropped as we pulled into the dark tunnel while a mysterious cast of monsters and apparatuses attacked the car. Des was kind enough to hold her hand through the traumatic ride.

New bath time past time- making “smoothies” with the dissolved shaving cream

After feeding the baby plants, an old relic was rediscovered. Outside for some light tree/target practice, Des glances over his shoulder in clear appreciation for dad’s toy archery coaching

Eleanor, not one to be left out…

Eighteen months and what little hair there is feels coarse, money is on curly hair

The new fascination during bath time: pouring. Pouring into things, out of containers, filling cups only later to pour again…

What’s different about this photo? What’s the same? Well Eleanor wearing Des’ old PJs, that’s for one.

New “shaving cream” for bath time! Yup, pretty exciting

Desmond points to “no-mo” (Nemo) on her first band-aid, which wouldn’t have lasted more than a few moments if it wasn’t promptly hidden by some pajamas

Somewhere there’s a photo of dad being stuck in a similar fashion in his crib

“My llama and this smoothie. That’s all I need.”

Eleanor has reached the “entertained by pouring water” (aka, “water-tainment”) phase with fervor and delight

Eleanor demonstrates why the infant car seat and stroller was being sold

Similar to another incident at daycare, Eleanor nearly gags at the thought of the bath “shaving cream” spray soap squishing between her fingers

Cutest little bucket head you ever saw

A new foray into cooperative bath play

Eleanor now enthusiastically and proudly carries the humidifier tanks to fill each night. It’s as if she almost looks forward to this chore.

Both kids seemed dubious that this shopping trip would indeed lead to the zoo. Dad also learned that you can’t hand a string cheese to Eleanor- she will find a way to bite/rip it open.

As Ella would say, “RAWW!”

The celebrated red panda was less than enthralling in person. Looked like an orange raccoon, didn’t do much.

With Eleanor learning the rule of holding hands, these two elicited multiple “aww’s”

A peaceful photo, moments before Mr. Gorilla banged on the window and both kids jumping

Born January of last year, Kgosi is still small enough for the kids to refer to him as “baby gorilla”

Titled: Fries on the Serengeti, or how dad learned that an order of two fries at the African Grasslands restaurant is a significantly different portion than at the jungle. Not shown: other healthy foods like pouches, fruit and string cheese.

Upon entering entering the elephant complex, Eleanor began waving and saying, “HI! HI!” to the elephants 🙂

Love seeing these two play together and make each other laugh
