Union Hall Christmas

Everyone met at pa’s union hall to continue the tradition seeing Santa Claus. Desmond has only seen the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer since last seeing Santa a few weeks ago, but we’ve been talking him up.

Des decides just one grandchild on grandma’s lap isn’t enough

Eagerly waiting, which was notably streamlined this year with family numbers and reduced line time

Des still shy. If you look closely, that thumbs-up appears to be sarcastic

Yup, mostly slept

Hamming it up for ma

After unwrapping his new set of cars, Viv and Des instinctively got down from the table and paraded them, hand-in-hand. The sheer cuteness was apparently a distraction, as the two rounded the corner before any parent thought best to go get them 😉

Des unwraps—and immediately bogarts—his sister’s present. To be fair, the blanket outsized him, let alone her.

It was also a frog blanket, possibly establishing an annual theme.

Grandma brought Desmond up to the hospital after nap time to meet “baby sister.” He was excited to see her, comparing the size of his fingers to hers. Des was excited to gift a stuffed elephant to sister, and she reciprocated with a new book for her brother.

Des wanted to hold his sister, so with lots of support…

Of course there was lots of buttons for Des to explore. “What’s this ‘Nurse’ button do?”

AppleJack Festival 2016

Unlike last year, Des spent most of this year on foot at the annual family visit to Nebraska City for the AppleJack Festival.

Ok, maybe a quick break in the wagon with pa

A boy and his sack of apple (just the one)

The grapes were pretty sour (and likely not meant for public consumption anyway), but that didn’t stop him from each a literal bunch

It was quite the hike, even with the nice weather, so he was pretty tuckered out by the end

But nothing a quick lunch picnic won’t fix, he was quickly back to playground with his cousins

Des and dad were interviewed on KETV (see at 0:53 below), though poking the boom mic was only interesting part
