After an early morning walk with mom and ma, Des plays with his new bubble toy (having not yet met Elmo in other contexts)

An adolescent squirrel lives in the neighbor’s tree that is patient with our lively toddler next door. Des and dad will usually watch the squirrel from the front porch as it comes down the tree to snack. This is “Desmond’s Squirrel.” (Although dad wonders if Des thinks there exists a sole squirrel, like Buzz Lightyear thought he was the only Buzz.) This evening when Des and mom were alongside the house, playing with rocks of course, dad shared that the squirrel was back. Des squealed and quickly made his way to the front yard to watch his squirrel. He’s equally patient, never blitzing towards his friend, just palms on knees in an inquisitive stance.
