Stretching the weekend into three days while quarantined from daycare, Eleanor thumbs through a book before nap time

Zonked out in a few minutes

A thunderstorm and light rain begins late afternoon. With rain jacket, no shoes required

Recreating a photo of a similar moment two years prior

Wandering about in the sprinkles

Watching mom arrive home

Ella sprinting into the neighbors’ yard

Des got into the puddle action sporting his new lightning bolt rain jacket

The thunder clearly caught Desmond off guard

Long gone are the days of morning naps…

The inaugural run of the front-yard pool was clearly made a splash

Look out, she will get you

Happiness. And falling down in 3, 2…

The smirk of pure joy

The “pool life”

The compromise of “No Desmond, there’s not enough room for both of you”

Ella attacking (with love) her treat

When you get up earlier than normal, you take the dog for a walk in your pajamas

Goofy antics in the lobby of dad’s office

Born hacker

Starting the day with a mild fever, the hot morning farmers market was not agreeing with Eleanor. She and dad end up escaping to dad’s (cooled) office. Sitting in the kitchen with some sparkling water

Already has the “tennis table pro” stance down pat

Careful. Glass walls can be really hard on the initiated. The utter shock of unknowingly running straight into something motion-stopping solid is both confusing and painful.

Or… ways Eleanor is like a bird: she walked straight into this glass wall

Cooking up some good eats before the traditional Sunday lunch

After a second irritable day with fever and poor sleeping, Eleanor goes to visit the doc to confirm the suspected hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Because if there’s one person that comes to mind when you think of a peaceful sense of self-constraint and restraining oneself from the urge to pick…

Ella stylin’ with mom’s ball cap

Someone (mom) suggested tonight’s movie night should entail a viewing of Shrek. Ten minutes in and Desmond was simultaneously frightened and missing all the jokes. Eleanor’s tension was apparent.

That was about the time when movie night pivoted to repeat viewing of universally loved Toy Story.

Sheer concentration

A surprise Friday afternoon, after-daycare treat. Eleanor shares dad’s strawberry gelato

“…we (mostly) smile for ice cream!”

^Desmond with his signature avocado ice cream with sprinkles (of course)

These two sneaking in a quick morning book in Ms. Kristen’s room before Des joins his preschool classroom

She figured out the gloves shortly after discovering them, then just ran away!

Desmond planting one of the Chinese 5 Color peppers

Surveying his work with a sense of pride

Des digging out the next hole

Desmond and Eleanor both have this behavior of turning around and then backing into and dropping into a lap.  While this was common with both dad and mom, Eleanor was the first to pull this move with Max. Grateful for oh-so-patient Maxwell.

Down…

Scoot…

Okay, ready.

Desmond doing his best Marty McFly impression

On one of the busiest days of the year for OCF,  Desmond joins mom on her afternoon rounds for the annual Omaha Gives all-city fundraising drive. Trying to liberate a piece, Des digs into some Indian fry bread.

“Yay!” for adventures with mom and getting out of preschool early

Des getting “inked”
