Desmond doing surprisingly well facetiming Liam and Viv

Cutest little bucket head you ever saw

A new foray into cooperative bath play

Eleanor now enthusiastically and proudly carries the humidifier tanks to fill each night. It’s as if she almost looks forward to this chore.

You get an orange! And you get an orange!

Selfie game: strong

Pre-gaming at the new coffee shop ran by some of mom’s prior studio students

And it’s parade time, where magic like groups of dogs walk past their number one fan

The line was only temporarily held near the curb until descending into chaos further into the street. Des was ever so patient waiting for candy

The hunter, in action

Thumbs up for parades, no matter how cold

Ella has had her tongue out literally since birth, think the genetic responsibility has now been identified:

Five out of seven looking in the same direction, that’s a success

Waving at the firemen

Eleanor eventually needed a good stretch of the legs

With sufficient candy now in bag, Des just takes in the sights and sounds

All paraded out.

While the real event was celebrating ma’s 60th birthday, the kids were equally excited about the mini-arcade at Mama’s Pizza

Ok, the pizza was a hit too

Desmond learning his first emotional lesson about gambling. Of course it was entirely skewed since Viv someone won three prizes out of “The Claw!” machine

However, the third win was after everyone left, so it wasn’t until the following weekend until she was able to gift the green hippo to Des

Toddler in a big-kid world. Although trick’s on them, Ella was grunting…

Happy birthday, ma! Eleanor was certainly focused on the cake

Yup, she’s a cake fan

Both kids seemed dubious that this shopping trip would indeed lead to the zoo. Dad also learned that you can’t hand a string cheese to Eleanor- she will find a way to bite/rip it open.

As Ella would say, “RAWW!”

The celebrated red panda was less than enthralling in person. Looked like an orange raccoon, didn’t do much.

With Eleanor learning the rule of holding hands, these two elicited multiple “aww’s”

A peaceful photo, moments before Mr. Gorilla banged on the window and both kids jumping

Born January of last year, Kgosi is still small enough for the kids to refer to him as “baby gorilla”

Titled: Fries on the Serengeti, or how dad learned that an order of two fries at the African Grasslands restaurant is a significantly different portion than at the jungle. Not shown: other healthy foods like pouches, fruit and string cheese.

Upon entering entering the elephant complex, Eleanor began waving and saying, “HI! HI!” to the elephants 🙂
