“Hi mom!”
Desmond playing with stickers, with grandma advising
On a drizzly, cold autumn morning, Desmond and dad head to the children’s museum. We’re not going to say he shops like mom, but…
Riding the train by himself, like the almost-three-year-old he is
Got a few balls to reliably launch out of the cannon this time
During a prior visit, Desmond scanned in a coloring and got to watch it animate into a 3D world. This time dad was less confident that the original drawings made it into the system. Thinking he found plane similar-enough to call Desmond’s, Des later began doing this:
Can’t tell if he’s just trying to mentally reconcile seeing his drawing projected on the screen, or if he caught on and was dubious of the match or…
Stop. Blocks time.
And then it was nap time
Eleanor and dad came down after nap to find brother beginning to watch an episode of Beat Bugs. Eleanor joined on the couch for just a moment, though apparently shocked to be watching
Yup, thrilled
Evening shopping for upcoming family photos, Des models a nice two-button suit jacket. For fun.
Not sure what to think about the new pair of shoes, Eleanor just flails around for while, refusing to actually stand. “How could I with these things you just strapped to my feet?”
The presumable offspring of Des’ original squirrel, this adolescent routinely joins us. This time it was lucky enough to stick around for some walnuts dad tossed on the front porch.
First time feeding the frogs- two microscopic pellets per front, twice a week. Not sure if we determined if they each got their fair share, or even found the few pieces that floated to the bottom. But Desmond (and let’s be honest, and dad) were certainly both entertained.
Rumor has it they’re still “Lightning McQueen” and “Mader,” though there’s been a few close calls when “Mader” was “Vader.”
Some action shots of Des at daycare. Here he is with a new friend-
Always the goofball and has to have his hat
A rainy day trip to the zoo with grandma and Calvin
Grab all the fishies!
Mesmerized
Lunch with monkeys, everyone’s favorite
Started to dry up by mid-day, but it was getting close to nap time
It was the perfect windy afternoon to (belatedly) try out mom’s birthday kite
Des exploring the rose garden at Memorial Park. This may or may not have been while dad was driving home to get his grabber tool to retrieve some kite parts accidentally dropped into the storm drain.
Mom quickly learned that getting a kite off the ground with a baby carrier on was a non-starter. Dad gets it flying after a few sprints.
It’s mom’s kite after all, so gives it a go with Desmond giving chase
Desmond exercising his “outdoor voice”
Eleanor also gets into the kite-chasing fun
Quite the speedy crawler
