While trimming fingernails after bath time, Des’ squirrel joins the already busy front yard (lots of robins feeding their adolescents with the abundance of damp soil). With the walnuts close at hand, his squirrel gets quite the dinner.

After patiently sitting through several minutes of his request for mom to read her non-profit book to him, Desmond eventually surrendered and accepted her offer to resume reading The Princess Bride.

At Mother’s Day tea 1 of 2, Des shows his present off to Eleanor. She appears less than impressed, though mom loved it.

The monumental event this week was aunt Kellie, uncle Mike and Calvin moving from Iowa City to Omaha. Assisting the move, great-aunt Molly also gets to meet Eleanor for the first time.
