Up early on a Saturday with dad, so it was time for his first visit to Gerda’s for a doughnut. Yum! (overly friendly dining neighbor insisted on taking a photo)
Never mind the Bert & Ernie quarter rides, Des prefers leaving the hardware via browsing the “tractors” and power washers (?)
Des attentively listening and “watching” dad sand the walls in what will be his new room

This was the first year Des was able to “walk” in the Labor Day parade with pa’s IBEW Local 22. The cousins piled into the stroller, ready to toss out candy
He was a bit hesitant at first, but quickly got into the candy-tossing spirit

Sushi for dinner, where Des both ate avocado rolls, including the nori, and (finally) learned how to shuck his own edamame.
Des passed the Kobayashi Maru tonight: moments after the gameplay sunk in, he decided “Let’s Go Fishin” is indeed challenging. He promptly flipped the switch to stop the fish and resumed fishing. Well played young man, well played.
