Memorial Day 2016
It was a good morning for a hike at Fontenelle Forest and Des was all about running through the trees
“Come on son, let’s put those couch climbing skills to use”
Making it all the way down to the river overlook still awake (unlike last time)
A new found fascination with turtles
After nap time, it was time to cool off poolside. This is about as far in as he ventured though (dad needs to preheat it out in the sun for a bit next time)
“Sharing” an apple with mom
Running over to greet grandma
Reading Des’ new copy of The Little Engine That Could from grandma

On a morning that leaned more summer than spring, it was off to the zoo with our KC friends along side the rest of the tri-state area. Today’s lessons included learning that goats prefer hay over pebbles.
Des cannot get enough of the stingray exhibit. Of course it helps that stingrays also, surprisingly, can’t get enough high fives/fins.
Must have been something important with all that pointing going on
Des’ first train ride (fairly certain dad hadn’t been on it since elementary school either)
Warm and ready for a nap
He’s smiling in the inside 😉

Baking cornbread for breakfast with mom
Des woke up with a tremendous amount of energy, so it was a good morning to visit the children’s museum. Here he is coming out of his (hermit) shell
Finally getting a hang of the whole ball/pneumatic experience (baby brother/sister making an appearance in the background)
High fives for a nice evening the Surfside with ma and pa
Des was enthralled by all the boats zooming past

The last few nights, Des and dad lay on the bed and listen to the birds before bedtime books
Puddles
Starting the day with a bit of banana bread stacking
Strumming strings and twisting knobs
Perfect warm spring evening for some puddles

With daycare closed today, Des and dad started the day off at the zoo
After a lengthy nap, Des resumes stacking cairns throughout the front yard
