Earth Day

Places come and go, but a great spot in the neighborhood served its last meal. Mom and dad ate on day one, so it was fitting to attend the last lunch at the French Bulldog, where Des discovered he liked aged cheese.

After some fuzzy recollections, it was determined that last year was indeed skipped due to rain, making this Des’ first Earth Day down at Elmwood Park. Lots of booths, music, people, and of course, dogs to pet

At first impressed with the frisbee, but not keen of letting go

Des isn’t too shabby at throwing bean bags, thanks to the set ma made him

When retrieving bags, it’s better to go in face-first

Who doesn’t go to the park to stick twigs and grass down a storm drain?

With all the running and dancing around this afternoon, sometimes you just need a good bench to rest on

Lake Picnic

Mom wasn’t feeling too well, so it was a boys adventure for the evening. We grabbed some sandwiches and headed to Lake Manawa.

Sometimes you get cute updates from daycare-

Only shortly followed by boo-boo reports, like Des tripping, wiping out, and getting carpet rash on his nose as he was laying out his nap mat

Either way, he’s still smiling 🙂

Tembo!

Des has really up’d his game on napping this weekend, nearly three hours each day.

With normal spring temperatures returning, it was a nice day for a late afternoon trip to the zoo. Des likes to take in all the exotic wildlife, like ducks, for example.

Although monkeys are certainly a favorite too

The big news in Omaha last month was the arrival of six new elephants rescued from drought-stricken Swaziland. The elephants were finally settling into their new home and went on display last Wednesday. It was late enough in the day that we had relatively uncrowded viewing.

As tall as our little man is, he doesn’t quite measure up to a baby elephant.

Sometimes Des just repositions his chair to the front of the living room, then begins rocking as he stares into the distance.

Ah, the sheer joys of finding sticks, running around, and hitting things with said sticks. Spring is upon us.

Des insisted mom read to him her novel by Thomas Wolfe. Upon his sixth request, she obliged after verifying to him that the book indeed contained no images and nary a single illustration. About a minute or so into the recitation, Des’ interested unexpectedly waned.

His attention soon turned to retrieving his cup without leaving the couch
