Cruising the grocery store with mom, in a bit of post-nap daze
Monthly Archives: February 2016
Let’s go…
Just the boys in the morning, so we sent out on a search for some ducks. Without much luck at either of two lakes, we made our way over to the playground at Big Lake near dad’s old house in Council Bluffs
Slides and rocks?! Super duper fun
What’s a trip to Big Lake without a stop for a (veggie) burger and oreo super shake at Christy Creme?
After nap time, it was the perfect 70° February afternoon to walk around Heartland of America Park.
And there were ducks!
It was also just breezy enough for some decent kite flying
A quick look across the river before walking over to the old market for dinner
Des’ first piggyback ride
After dinner at Trini’s, we walked over to see the horse-drawn carriages
Time for a bath after a long day. Des now prefers laying down in the tub up to, and past, when all the water has drained. “Towel? No thanks, just going to chill here for a bit longer.”

Nap time with mom, froggy and monkey
Lunch with friends and corgis

Thai food, even with the kiddos
Mom and adoring son
Oh my oh my oh dinosaurs!
“Look, Lightning McQueen!”
Building block collaboration
A picture of looking at pictures
Pretty much sums up their relationship: Des pointing, Sydney squawking
A fine portrait, thumbs up indeed.
Cousin hugs!
After a long day, time for bedtime stories
Fish fry
Buggy rides at daycare are tiring when you wake up at 4:30am
Pre-season sandbox visit, dreaming of summertime
Sixty degrees on a Friday in February? That can only mean fish fry time at Holy Name, with our friends Eric, Gini, and Ethan.
Ethan found a pine cone and gifted it to Des
Just goofing around
This was Des’ second year at the fish fry, but the first for eating. Basically a plate of fried stuff, so it’s a once-a-season visit.
He also took quickly to dunking french fries in cocktail sauce.

Des and dad meet up in the morning with some friends at the Durham Western Heritage Museum. Valentines for kids, coffee for the parents. We explored the trains to run off some energy
Des isn’t so sure of stepping out on the grate off the caboose
Valentine’s day shades
“Not sure what I can do from atop this ladder, but it’s sure to help, right dad?” Or, “see a ladder, climb a ladder…”
