Lauritzen Gardens

We head off to breakfast on a cold January morning, but not before Des squeezes in one more book with grandma.

We trek off to the Lauritzen Gardens conservatory to warm up and walk off some energy. Des has been a walking machine over the past week.

Downhill walking is much faster

Still not sure what he’s thinking when he holds his hands out in front of him as he walks. Is he catching something? Soliciting low-fives?

Unlike everywhere else, all the plants are “look, but do not touch.” It’s a difficult concept to master; we’ll point instead.

Family dinner at a fundraiser at the German-American Society hall. This was also the singular evening when Des decided to begin walking. He’s been able to walk for some time now, just chose not to unless sufficiently motivated to grab something or holding a hand. After doing a R2-D2 dance seeing pa come in though, he wiggled off dad’s lap and just walked over. He hasn’t stopped walking since.

We ventured out on a cold morning to the zoo with our KC friends. Des nearly wore out his pointer finger…
